A Violin by Gennaro Gagliano
Naples, c.1740
An unusually fine, bold example of one of the most important South Italian makers. Its arching is notably full and strong, and is modelled on the grand pattern. In addition it has particularly well-preserved varnish. It is not only a fine player’s instrument, but also an excellent collector’s piece.
