With a dissection through Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù’s oeuvre from the earliest known examples to the last, Florian Leonhard inaugurates his new series of books dedicated to classic Cremonese violin making.

This volume is a selection of the best and most representative Guarneri violins, carefully curated from the whole of the master’s output. By highlighting details through descriptions, drawings, and detailed full-size pictures of the instruments, Florian shares his in-depth analysis at the highest level with luthiers and enthusiasts, creating for the reader a similar feeling to handling these instruments in person. The volume is the result of the refined graphic work of our Italian design team in collaboration with the FLFV research team. This has allowed each violin to be presented through historical and constructive analysis based on Florian’s unique and extensive experience of restoring, handling, examining, and making his own True Copies of Guarneri violins.
