A Violin by Peter Guarneri

Venice 1751

A typical and beautifully preserved example by Peter Guarneri of Venice, with highly characteristic workmanship and a lovely transparent amber varnish showing off its handsome one-piece back. The violin shows beautiful slender corners, and a typical deeply carved scroll with the trademark gouge marks pointing towards the eye of the scroll. With famous soloist provenance, this violin is capable of great complexity and warmth.
