New book: The Archetypal Violins of Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, now available. Pre-order today.

Florian Leonhard Fine Violins is delighted to have helped reunite Dutch violinist Thijs Kramer with one of the first Stradivarius violins he ever played.

Thijs, a former musician with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and Rotterdam’s Philharmonic Orchestra, first played the instrument which belonged to his teacher’s companion over 40 year ago.

We invited Thijs to come and play the violin once more after he contacted us having recognised the instrument posted on our Facebook page.

It was great to host Thijs and see how happy it made him to be reunited with the instrument. Below are some pictures from his visit:

Reunited at last! Over 40 years on and Thijs finally gets to play the 1695 Stradivarius once more.
