New book: The Archetypal Violins of Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, now available. Pre-order today.

Florian Leonhard Fine Violins would like to congratulate Sheku Kanneh-Mason on the recent release of his brand-new album, Elgar.

Recorded on the 1610 Amati cello which we were delighted to permanently reunite with him in 2016, along with the exceptional Maire bow which was acquired for Sheku through our company last year, Sheku recorded his highly anticipated album with the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle at Abbey Road Studios, including the Elgar Cello Concerto.

The winner of the 2016 BBC Young Musician Competition and in high demand from orchestras all over the world, Sheku shot to fame in 2018 after his performance at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Watched by an estimated two billion people worldwide, Sheku has been a household name ever since.

Speaking to Rhinegold publishing, Sheku said:

“All the pieces are connected, either exercising similar emotions to the Cello Concerto, or written around the same time.

“The love and enjoyment for this great art is something that should be available to everyone, regardless of background. I had incredible support from the state schools I attended in Nottingham where music was promoted for its value in developing listening skills, teamwork, self-expression and hard work.”

We’re already listening to the album at the Florian Leonhard workshops, follow the link to listen for yourself: https://lnk.to/ShekuElgarFP
