New book: The Archetypal Violins of Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, now available. Pre-order today.

We were delighted to help permanently reunite Sheku Kanneh-Mason with the 1610 Amati cello he played to win the 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year, with the help of a generous anonymous sponsor based in London.

Florian initially picked out the fine Amati cello for Sheku, who was loaned the instrument for his performances at the BBC Young Musician of the Year at the Barbican and for his Royal Festival Hall debut last year. Sheku came to pick up the cello from our workshop just in time for Christmas and news of the reunion made headlines all over the UK.
