A Violin by Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa

A Violin by Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa

Treviso, c1760

A strong follower of the Brothers Amati, Dalla Costa is a great name amongst the makers of Venice and its surroundings. This violin displays a well-thought-out grand pattern model, with varnish of exceptional quality. In the past the instrument was likely slightly altered around the F holes, presumably to give it the stronger sound it now projects.
