A Violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini

Parma, 1769

The Ex-Merter Guadagnini is one of the finest sounding examples of the Parma period we’ve come across. This violin is well documented in both publications and historic papers. It has recently been loaned to rising stars for competitions, recordings and important performances. The Merter was chosen for the Russian virtuoso Nathan “Tossy” Spivakowsky by his teacher Willy Hess. Spivokowsky used the violin for a number of years and left in his legacy many great LP recordings including the Sibelius, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky concertos as well as those by Menotti and Leroy Robertson and Beethoven Sonatas.

Length of back: 35.3
