International Orchestra for Freedom
The fact that art unites people of different backgrounds, origins, cultures and beliefs is universally accepted and historically proven. On the other hand young generations are often accused of not being sensible or active towards social problems. Well, since little time a team of dynamic young musicians had the idea of promoting human rights through music on an international level.
The International Orchestra for Freedom is a newly formed orchestra based in London. It was created based upon the desire of this country’s most promising young musicians to fight for human rights around the world, more specifically against human trafficking. They are willing to travel the world and express their dynamism by using the unparalleled force of artistic expression along with the young generation’s plight to change the world in which they live. The International Orchestra for Freedom will be performing its debut concert at the sumptuous hall of St John’s Smith Square on the 25th of June 2010. This concert will be in aid of the UN-accredited world-wide organisation, Stop The Traffik and will be featuring, amongst other masterpieces, Beethoven’s immense 5th symphony.
Members of the orchestra performed Alexander Borodin’s 2nd quartet on Thursday 11th February at the premises of Florian Leonhard Fine Violins in Hampstead, in order to give a first taste of the forthcoming orchestra and seek support for their future activities.
