Company History

Founded in 1995, Florian Leonhard Fine Violins soon established itself as one of the world’s foremost suppliers of fine instruments, including those by Guadagnini, Guarneri and Stradivari. Mr Leonhard’s expertise in both restoration and authentication enabled the company to gain momentum in a few short years and it was only a matter of time before the business outgrew its original premises.

In 2000, the company moved to Hampstead’s Frognal Lane to accommodate its expansion and growing clientele. Florian’s vision was to provide a tranquil yet London-based setting, in which clients could come and try instruments at the very top end of the market without enduring the hectic and often stressful environment of a high street shop. The new location meant these criteria have been more than satisfied, as clients receive maximum attention on a one-to-one basis whilst work continues upstairs on restoration and repairs.

Florian Leonhard Fine Violins offers a variety of unique services as part of its role in the acquisition and care of fine stringed instruments. These include providing expertise, consulting with respect to condition, authenticity and historical significance, restoration, repair and general sales. Regular inspections, necessary adjustments and revaluations of instruments are also offered as part of our exclusive after sales services.

Additionally, we act as Agent between owner of instrument and any third party, including musicians to whom an instrument may be loaned. We draw up legal contracts between owner and third parties for any purpose, dealing with all matters relating to the insurance of an instrument, as well as its maintenance and welfare.
